Deepak Padmanabhan

Deepak Padmanabhan serves as CEO of EIT and is a member of the organization's founding leadership team, in place since its inception in 2006. The EIT board has given him the responsibility of leading the development of value-creation plans for operating companies, supervising all investments and new acquisitions, and closely monitoring investments during the post-acquisition phase. As CEO, Padmanabhan is also responsible for, managing EIT's relationship with its shareholders and the process of selecting the senior executives appointed to lead EIT's managed companies.

Padmanabhan has developed best international practices for investments in telecommunications companies and created a new model of operational excellence that has been critical in creating new value in telecom incumbents leading to superior business results. He has also brought together a leading team of expert telecom executives with a collective 400 years of industry experience.

When he joined EIT, Padmanabhan had more than twenty years of industry experience in telecommunications, including work on mergers and acquisitions, strategy and investments and value creation. He joined EIT from TECOM Investments, where he served as Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer and developed the concept and design of Dubai's knowledge clusters and led the international development of TECOM's business. At TECOM Investments, he also developed numerous new businesses in areas including telecom, media,education, ICT and other industries.

Padmanabhan serves as Chairman of GO plc, Forthnet S.A. and SmartCity Malta. He is also a director of Tunisie Telecom, SmartCity Kochi, Interoute Communications Holdings S.A., The Indus Entrepreneurs and SmartCity Dubai.

Ahmad Bin Byat

Ahmad Bin Byat is one of Dubai's renowned corporate leaders who heads key economic initiatives aimed at developing Dubai's knowledge-based economy. He has been the Chairman of EIT's Board of Directors since the company was founded in 2006. Since the beginning, Bin Byat has played a critical role in the creation and development of the new company as well as leading its majority shareholder, TECOM Investments. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding, the holding company responsible for supervising many of Dubai's various mega-economic projects.

Before establishing EIT, Bin Byat secured important investment opportunities that now serve as the basis of EIT's portfolio. As Executive Chairman of TECOM Investments, Bin Byat led the development of TECOM's strategic investments regionally and internationally, including GO (formerly Maltacom) -- Malta's leading telecom provider; Tunisie Telecom -- Tunisia's incumbent telecom provider; Interoute -- operator of one of Europe's most advanced Next Generation Networks (NGNs); and Axiom Telecom -- the GCC's largest mobile retailer. All except Axiom are managed by EIT.

Known for his charisma and strategic thinking, Bin Byat currently occupies the position of Secretary General of the Executive Council within the Government of Dubai. He is also the president of the Government Excellence Program.

Bin Byat holds a number of senior positions in Dubai's business scene. In addition to being the Executive Chairman of TECOM Investments he is also the Chairman of Du, the second licensed telecom operator in the UAE. Bin Byat also serves as Chairman of the Dubai Real Estate Corporation.

He joined TECOM Investments in 2003 as CEO of Dubai Internet City and then served as the Director General of the Dubai Technology, Communications and Media Free Zone Authority. Prior to joining TECOM Investments, he worked in various senior managerial posts at Etisalat, the UAE's first national telecom service provider, where he is credited with several achievements.

Holding degrees in IT and management from the United States, Bin Byat became involved in IT network planning and development of sales strategies early in his career. His educational background, leadership qualities and technology skills have made him a highly resourceful and inspiring corporate leader. His charisma and motivational skills have helped him build high-performing teams, create partnerships, and nurture long-term relationships.

Bin Byat's business strategy skills have been instrumental to the success of the initiatives he has led. His aspirations for his nation and his deep personal commitment to the knowledge economy vision of Dubai's leadership are what drive Ahmad Bin Byat to work tirelessly toward the development of the UAE.
